Environnemental Statement

Aside from our mission to offer clients a broad range of services in a cost-effective and timely fashion, Enuvo has another hot topic on the brain:  The environment.  In this day and age there is no question that the well-being of our environment is an issue that can no longer fall by the wayside; it is ultimately the responsibility of each and every active individual, organization and governing body to do its part in sustaining our planet’s resources for future generations.  Enuvo is no exception to the rule, and to reinforce our commitment to environmental responsibility we have implemented a number of operational standards that govern Enuvo’s daily processes.

For starters we use energy efficient lighting, as well as energy efficient computers, monitors and electronic equipment – all of which are Energy Star Certified – in our office.  For those who are not familiar with Energy Star certification, it is a joint program between the United States’ Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy to assist businesses and people in adopting energy efficient practices.  The Canadian Government is also keen on supporting energy proficient practices and you can learn more about Energy Star qualified products in Canada on the Natural Resources Canada site

Forest Stewardship CouncilForest Stewardship Council

Enuvo also uses FSC approved paper within its organization.  FSC stands for the Forest Stewardship Council which supports the conservation of forests worldwide helping to create better lives for those who depend on these habitats as a means of survival.  The FSC’s strict social and environmental standards happen to be the highest in the forestry sector, so we feel good knowing that the paper we’re using is not only sustainable, but socially responsible as well.  You can read more on the FSC by visiting their official site:  http://www.fsc.org/

On top of these practices, Enuvo has implemented other environmentally sustainable measures such as making use of water-saving installations, encouraging our employees to work remotely when possible, and even opting to register for electronic copies of our subscriptions magazines thus reducing the amount of paper that circulates in and out of the office.  Now, while these are all excellent practices that our company has adopted, you may be wondering how sustainability plays a part where the most obvious factor of our business is concerned – electronic design.

We realize that consumers are discarding their “obsolete” electronic products more and more often as new technologies hit the market at an escalating rate; consumer electronics waste has become a global problem, so Enuvo is designing RoHS products.  RoHS is the Restrictions of Hazardous Substances Directive; it restricts the use of six particular hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment:  Lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl (PBDE).  (The final two substances, PBB and PBDE are flame retardants used in several types of plastic.)  The directives states the maximum concentrations of these substances permitted in any one product is 0.1%, with the exception of cadmium which is 0.01%.  These concentrations are measured by “weight of homogeneous material” meaning the limits to do apply to the weight of the finished product as a whole, but rather to any single material that could theoretically be separated from the product.  It could be something as simple as a sheath on a cable – if the concentration of any of the above listed substances exceeds the restricted amount, even within the make-up of this tiny sheath, the entire product fails the directive requirements; no question the parameters of this directive are quite restrictive, but Enuvo adheres them austerely.

So as you can see, Enuvo is a company not only dedicated to innovative design and product development, we’re a company dedicated to ensuring our organization, and its members, uphold our commitment to the environment by employing energy efficient practices, using sustainable materials and sticking closely to restrictive legislation where potentially hazardous materials are concerned.  Above all else, our planet and those who inhabit it should be our number one concern; when we stop caring about the consequences of our actions what will we, and future generations, be left with?  Let’s all get involved and take on our roles in making our environment a cleaner, healthier and happier place.
